Influence on Western Art
Chinese and Japanese art influenced the works of some famous artists. Vincent van Gogh incorporated flat color areas and bold styles consistent with Japanese art styles into his infamous Starry Night painting. Other artists such as Vladimir Tretchikoff, Henri Matisse, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Ford Smith and Brandon Cole liked the pattern designs of Asian art and inserted elements of its style into their own works of art.
